Let’s talk about your email marketing. Maybe you are just getting started, and you only have a few contacts in your database. Or perhaps you’ve developed a database with several thousand contacts, but have run out of ideas.

Today let’s look at growing your email audience.

SFX – swooshes of emails sent, keypad typing

VOX: Leveraging Lead Magnets

What’s something valuable you can give your audience? Remember that fishing game, where plastic fish with magnetic mouths where dropped in a pool?

[SFX behind vox: Sploosh] You’d use a tiny rod with a magnet on the end [SFX behind vox: fishing rod winding] to hook a fish and win a prize?

A lead magnet is the hook you employ to fish for potential clients.

It’s something they want to see, like an e-book, a whitepaper, a downloadable guide, tips and tricks, tutorial, maybe a catalogue.

It’s available to them on your website or shared on your social media, and all they need to do to get it, is to share their contact info with you.

So, you’re offering something valuable and in exchange you earn a lead and grow your audience.

VOX: Interactive Digital Competitions

VOX: I have a brick and mortar store, so it’s going to be more difficult for me to grow an email audience.

This is the FUN part. There are so many competitions you can build to engage with customers and grow your audience. Even if you are operating a retail store.

For example, Scan and Win!

Let’s say you’re the owner of Graham’s Beauty Boutique, a Clothing & Accessories store. This Saturday you have a MEGA SALE planned and you’re expecting high foot traffic.

Here’s what you do:

Every customer who walks through your door will get the chance to win an instant prize!

SFX: Cheering, yay!

At the Point of Sale, have your QR Code printed and ready. With every purchase

SFX: Cha Ching

Your customer scans the QR Code with their mobile phone for the chance to win an instant prize. It’s like a spin the wheel… but digital.

On the front end, the QR Code takes them to a digital prize generator with your branding and randomly assigns them a prize.

When scanning, in order to interact with this game and win the prize, all they have to is enter their email address, and check a consent box. The emails are collected in the back end for remarketing later.

So you see how you can digitally grow an audience even if you’re operating in a brick and mortar environment?

If you’d like more details on how to create a QR Code based competition like what I’ve described, let’s get in touch. Whatsapp me at 246-266-4847 or find me on Instagram at carlietalksdigital.

VOX: REFFERAL PROGRAMS

Referral programs are an effective way to grow email databases while rewarding your loyal customers.

You’d share an incentive with your existing audience, like everyone who played Scan and Win, in exchange for their referrals. Your Referral Campaign to that audience could go a bit like this:

Hey Carlie, we just wanted to thank you for your shopping at our MEGA SALE with a little extra Surprise! If you love your recent purchase – why not tell your girlfriends about us?

Click the button below to share the good news about Graham’s Beauty Boutique with a friend, and we will give you both 10% off in store.

Your customer makes a referral to their friend so they both get a deal, and so on.

That’s the gist of an example referral program, and how you can continue to grow your audience leveraging existing campaigns.
